Praised for giving over 30 years to Gallaudet, which included coaching at Model Secondary School for the Deaf, Gallaudet, and on several Deaflympic teams. Willigan also coached several All-Americans at Gallaudet and coached wrestling at Long Reach High School in Columbia, Md.
