Murashige remembers taking a serious interest in sports, especially volleyball, after realizing she had the skill and "wanted to be better and to beat the other people." Murashige was a four-year starter. Gallaudet coach Peg Worthington, described her as a "natural leader on the floor" and "very competitive."

Did you know:
Murashige was a setter for the silver medal-winning U.S. women's volleyball teams in the World Games for the Deaf in 1973, 1977 and 1981.
