WASHINGTON - Gallaudet University athletics is proud to participate in the 12th annual NCAA Division III Week (April 10-16) in an effort to celebrate the impact athletics and Bison student-athletes have on our campus and the surrounding community. GU is joining 439 Division III institutions and 44 voting conferences in this week's celebration.
To help focus on the many student-athletes that represent Gallaudet athletics we will spotlight two different student-athletes each day this week. You will learn more about them as they express their feelings on what it is like to be a Division III student-athlete here at Gallaudet. Interviews were conducted by the Gallaudet Sports Information Office.
Sophomore
Reza Mosher (Danville, Calif.) is a second-year student-athlete for the women's soccer program. Mosher majors in international studies and minors in American Sign Language and is expected to graduate in May 2025.
Q: What is it like to be a student-athlete in college?
RM: It's great being a student-athlete in college. It keeps me motivated to do good in school and the facilities that college offers for sports is amazing. I enjoy being an athlete in college more than I did in high school.
Q:
What is it like to be a student-athlete at Gallaudet University?
RM: I love being a student-athlete here at Gallaudet. There's about 200 student athletes here at Gallaudet so being a part of deaf student-athlete community is great. For many people, including myself, it's our first time playing on a full deaf team for our sport. I have never been on a deaf soccer team until Gallaudet.
Q: What are your goals after graduation, what do you hope to do in life?
RM: After graduation, I want to continue my education and get my master's degree. I also hope to continue to travel the world.
Q: Which strengths do you believe you have that make you a great athlete?
RM: My work ethic does not only reflect in the workplace but also on the field. Along with my work ethic, my passion for soccer makes me committed to the sport and gives me drive to push myself to be better.
