LATHAM, N.Y. - Gallaudet University senior defender
Ryane Smalley (Nicholson, Pa.) was named to the 2023 United East Conference Women's Soccer All-Sportsmanship Team as announced by the conference office.
The United East All-Sportsmanship Team recognizes student-athletes who epitomize the ideals of sportsmanship. Student-athletes selected to the All-Sportsmanship Team demonstrate fair play, graciousness in victory and respectfulness in defeat. Each individual has been chosen by their coach as a representative who embodies the Division III spirit.
Smalley joins 16 other student-athletes, a representative from each conference member, on the All-Sportsmanship Team. Smalley, one of the team leaders, was the anchor on the Bison defense. Smalley started and played in 14 games for the buff and blue.
The 17 student-athletes are ambassadors for their teams, both on and off the course, and galvanize their teammates toward their goals. They exhibit respect for themselves, teammates, coaches, opponents, officials, spectators, and the greater campus community.
