LATHAM, N.Y. – The United East Conference announced its weekly conference student-athlete of the week awards for Sept. 18 and Gallaudet University junior setter Ella Gamble (Cullowhee, N.C.) was named the Women's Volleyball Player of the Week for the Volt Division.
Gamble set the table for the Bison offense as the team's main setter as Gallaudet rolled to a 4-0 week. The junior transfer tallied 118 assists in 10 sets played last week. GU has now won eight straight matches with the last seven coming in 3-0 fashion. Gallaudet has won 22 consecutive sets. Gamble tallied the second most assists this season with 45 in a 3-0 win last Wednesday at Dickinson. She finished the week with 24 digs, five kills, four service aces, one block assist and no reception errors.
Penn State Harrisburg senior Julia Choe was named the United East Women's Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week - Volt Division after Choe tallied 67 digs in four matches last week for the Nittany Lions.
GU HONORS
This is Gallaudet's fifth United East Women's Volleyball Player of the Week honors this season. This is the first United East weekly volleyball honor for Gamble.
