LATHAM, N.Y. – The United East Conference announced its weekly conference student-athlete of the week awards for Sept. 11 and Gallaudet University swept the Women's Volleyball Player of the Week honors for the Volt Division for the second week in a row. Senior Natalie Clayberg (Pella, Iowa) and junior Cassidy Perry (Frederick, Md.) were named Player and Defensive Player, respectively.
Clayberg made her debut this past week and helped to lead the Bison to a 4-1 record as GU went a perfect 4-0 at the Shenandoah Invitational last weekend. Clayberg played in all five matches this past week and tallied 54 kills, 43 digs, eight service aces and six blocks. Clayberg's attack percentage was .210 with a 2.84 kills per set average. Clayberg made a season-high 19 kills against Misericordia in a 3-2 thriller.
Perry led the Bison with 18 blocks (six solo) last week as Gallaudet posted a 4-1 record. Perry finished the week with 42 kills (.240 attack percentage), 18 blocks and 10 digs in 19 sets played (five matches). Perry made 12 kills and four blocks in a 3-2 loss at Marymount. She had a season-high six blocks in a 3-0 win against Hood last Friday night. Perry was the Offensive Player of the Week for Sept. 4, 2023, as well as a United East all-conference second team honoree last season.
GU HONORS
This is Gallaudet's fourth United East Women's Volleyball Player of the Week honors this season. This is the second United East weekly volleyball honor for Perry and the first for Clayberg.
