Bison women's team PRs in PG at the 2026 United East Indoor Track and Field Championships

LANDOVER, Md. - The Gallaudet University women's indoor track and field team participated in the 2026 United East Indoor Track & Field Championships here Friday at the Prince George's Sports & Learning Center just outside of the District of Columbia in Prince George's (PG) county.

Sophomore Olivia Armstrong (Rotterdam, N.Y.) placed 14th overall in the 1-mile run with a season best time of 7:01.33, which was 13 seconds faster than the last meet. First year Jala Furdge (Brandon, Miss.) was just behind in 15th place and set a personal record (PR) time of 7:14.25, which is nearly four seconds faster than her previous personal record time of 7:18.74.

First year Brooke Carter (Christiansburg, Va.) finished seventh in the 200-meter dash with a new personal best time of 30.98 seconds. Carter placed seventh in the 60-meter dash with a new personal best time of 8.90 seconds.

First year Tori Cushshon (St. Louis, Mo.) placed 11th in the 60-meter dash preliminaries with a time of 11.43 seconds but didn't advance to the finals.

Over in the throwing events, Cushshon finished eighth in the shot put with a personal record toss of 9.18 meters (30 feet, 1.4 inches) on her first throw. Cushshon improved nearly two and a half feet better than her previous best toss of 8.41 meters (27 feet, 7.25 inches).

St. Mary's (Md.) College repeated as United East conference champions as the Seahawks earned points in 14 of the 16 events to finish the meet with 192 team points. The Seahawks took home three major awards as Savannah Owens was selected as the Track Athlete of the Year, Lacy Shleig was Rookie of the Year and head coach Reava Potter was picked as Coach of the Year. Lancaster Bible College jumper Elly Bruner was selected as Field Athlete of the Year.

Lancaster Bible finished second with 133 team points. Penn State Harrisburg was third (126 team points) followed by Carlow University in fourth (26). Gallaudet did not score in the championship meet. The Bison only had four women participants.

This concludes the indoor track and field schedule. The Bison will have a month to recover before the outdoor season begins on March 28.
