LATHAM, N.Y. – The United East Conference announced its weekly conference student-athlete of the week awards for Sept. 22 and Gallaudet University junior middle hitter
Jada Zarembka (Riverside, Calif.) was named the Women's Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week.
Zarembka made a team-high 15 blocks last week as the Bison posted a 3-2 record as they hosted their annual Worthington Classic. Zarembka was a force at the net as she tallied three block solos and 12 block assists to go with 37 kills, 13 digs and eight aces. Zarembka also had a team best .342 hitting percentage. The Riverside, Calif., native recorded 10 of her 15 blocks last Saturday in two matches. Zarembka made six blocks in a 3-2 win over UC Santa Cruz and followed that with four blocks in a four-set win over Whittier College.
Lancaster Bible College junior Lea Sareyka was named the United East Women's Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week after tallied double-digit kills in all four matches, totaling 49 across 13 sets, racked up 17 aces and added 31 digs.
GU HONORS
This is Gallaudet's third United East Women's Volleyball Player of the Week honors this season. This is the second United East weekly honor for Zarembka in their volleyball career.
