WASHINGTON – Gallaudet University's women's volleyball team served up a winning performance for a meaningful cause Tuesday night as the Bison swept Penn St.-Berks in straight sets, 25-16, 25-20, 25-13, during the team's annual Dig Pink Night inside the Field House.
GU (14-9, 5-2 United East) extended its winning streak to four matches, all by 3-0 scores, while the Nittany Lions (9-12, 4-4 United East) saw their conference record fall to .500.
The Gallaudet women's volleyball team helped transform the Field House into a sea of pink for the annual Dig Pink Night, decorating the gymnasium with pink balloons, streamers and pink volleyball-shaped paper cutouts featuring handwritten words of encouragement. The Tuesday night event was part of the nationwide Dig Pink initiative, which raises awareness about breast cancer and supports those affected by the disease. The initiative, led by the Side-Out Foundation, brings volleyball communities together to promote breast cancer awareness and support research.
