WASHINGTON - The College Sports Communicators announced its 2024 Academic All-District® Football Teams and Gallaudet University landed seven student-athletes on the Division III team.
GU's honorees include sophomore offensive lineman
Austin Baker (Frederick, Md.), junior long snapper
Tyler Conner (Welsh, La.), junior linebacker
Jacob Hundley (McKee, Ky.), junior slot
Carter Johnson (McCall, Idaho), junior wide receiver
Jaylen Johnson (Redlands, Calif.), senior offensive lineman
John Scarboro (Austin, Texas) and senior slot
Kylar Sicoli (Austin, Texas).
There are 11 representatives from a Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) program as two teams were represented. Gallaudet, the world's only university with programs and services specifically designed to accommodate deaf and hard of hearing students, led the way with seven honorees. Alfred State College had four honorees. Schools were limited to eight nominations for this sport.
Gallaudet has had 27 CSC Academic All-District® honorees since 2012. Former GU standout
Adham Talaat is the only Bison that has earned Academic All-America® honors (2012, '13) in football. This is Scarboro's third CSC Academic All-District® team honor while Conner,
Carter Johnson,
Jaylen Johnson and Sicoli make a second consecutive appearance.
Outstanding student-athletes are nominated for Academic All-District® recognition by current dues-paying CSC members and must meet high academic and athletic standards. Eligible nominees will receive Academic All-District recognition.
The title Academic All-American is reserved for student-athletes who perform at an elite level in their sport and in the classroom.
To be eligible for College Sports Communicators Academic honors, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at their current institution and be nominated by their athletic communicator/sports information director. Student-athletes must compete in 90 percent of the institution's games/contests played or must start in at least 66 percent of the games/contests/matches.
The Academic All-America football teams will be announced on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2025.

College Sports Communicators (CSC) began the distinguished Academic All-America® program in 1952, and since then, has honored more than 40,000 deserving student-athletes from numerous sports across all divisions with these elite Academic All-America® scholar-athlete honors. Currently, CSC honors Academic All-Americans in 16 sports.
The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2024-25 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs.
