Three Bison land on College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Football Teams

WASHINGTON  - The College Sports Communicators, formerly known as College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), announced it's 2022 Academic All-District® Football Teams and Gallaudet University placed three on the Division III team. Gallaudet's honorees include senior offensive lineman/fullback Joseph Mendis (Brook Park, Ohio), sophomore linebacker Jacob Hartman (Petersburg, W.Va.) and sophomore offensive lineman John Scarboro (Austin, Texas).

The Bison trio will now be added to the national ballot for the chance to earn Academic All-America® honors, which will be announced on Tuesday, Dec. 20. The Division III national ballot will include 727 names on it.

Gallaudet has had 15 CSC Academic All-District® honorees since 2012. Former GU standout Adham Talaat is the only Bison that has earned Academic All-America® honors (2012, '13) in football. This is Mendis' third appearance on the CSC Academic All-District® team.

The Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) was well represented on the CSC Academic All-District® Teams as 22 players were honored. Keystone College led the way with eight honorees followed by Castleton University (seven), Dean College (four) and Gallaudet (three).

To be eligible for College Sports Communicators Academic honors, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her athletic communicator/sports information director.
