Gallaudet's Hannah Wetzel set to make NCAA national championship debut on Saturday

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Gallaudet University senior jumper Hannah Wetzel (Fremont, Calif.) will make her NCAA championships debut tomorrow (Saturday, March 9) when she competes in the women's high jump at the 2024 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Virginia Beach Sports Center.

Wetzel is one of 20 jumpers and is seeded 19th as the competition begins at noon. She is the first Bison women's track and field student-athlete under Head Coach Byron Moore to make the NCAA Indoor Championships.

Wetzel posted one of the top marks in the high jump this season when she cleared 1.70 meters (5 feet, 7 inches) last Saturday at the NCAA South Region Final Qualifier hosted by Shenandoah University.

Wetzel is tied for the fifth highest mark this indoor track season with four other jumpers from across the country. Loras College senior Grace Alley enters the high jump competition with the top mark of 1.75 meters (5 feet, 8.75 inches).
