Perry named to the All-ECAC Women's Basketball First Team

DANBURY, Conn. - The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) announced its 2023-24 Division III Women's Basketball All-ECAC teams and major award winners and Gallaudet University had one student-athlete selected to one of the two teams. Senior forward Cassidy Perry (Frederick, Md.) was selected to the All-ECAC First Team for the first time in her career. Perry earns All-ECAC honors for the second straight year as she was on the second team last season (2022-23).

Perry is the 2023-24 United East Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year for the Volt Division. The four-time all-conference honoree earned a third consecutive spot on the first team this year. She was recently named to the D3hoops.com All-Region Second Team for a third consecutive year. Perry earned seven United East Player of the Week honors this season, including two on the defensive side of the court, and has 18 weekly honors in her career. Perry is an CSC Academic All-America Second Team selection (2022-23) and is a four-time United East Scholar Athlete honoree.

Perry and the Bison finished the 2023-24 season with a 17-10 record and hosted the ECAC Division III Women's Basketball Championship (March 2-3) in the Field House. The second-seeded Bison lost to No. 3 seed Ramapo College, 69-51, in the semifinals. The Roadrunners went on to win the championship as they took down No. 4 seed Baruch College, 74-50.

Perry is the third Gallaudet women's basketball player to earn All-ECAC honors. Perry is the first Bison to earn All-ECAC First Team honors since 2010-11 when Easter Fa'afiti received her second consecutive first-team selection. Fa'afiti, a two-time All-ECAC First Team selection for the South Region (2009-10, 2010-11), was picked the 2010-11 ECAC Division III South Player of the Year. The other Bison honoree is Lindsay Stergio in 2013-14 (Upstate-Second Team)

Perry is joined on the All-ECAC First Team by New Jersey City University senior guard Damaris Rodriguez (last year's ECAC Player of the Year), Baruch junior guard Mia Castillo (this year's ECAC Player of the Year), Hunter College sophomore guard Alexa Charles (last year's ECAC Rookie of the Year), DeSales University senior forward Mikaela Reese and Ramapo senior guard Jackie Ventricelli. Perry is the only honoree from the United East on either team.

FDU-Florham guard Neysa Aguilar was selected as the ECAC Rookie of the Year. DeSales head coach Fred Richter took home ECAC Coach of the Year honors after the Bulldogs posted a 26-3 record, won the MAC Freedom Conference Championship and advanced to the second round of the 2024 NCAA tournament where they fell to No. 1 ranked New York University, who went on to win the national championship.

Student-athletes are nominated by their Athletic Communications/Sports Information Directors to the ECAC to be eligible to be selected to the All-ECAC teams.
