Perry named to All-ECAC Second Team

DANBURY, Conn. - The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) announced its 2022-23 Division III Women's Basketball All-ECAC teams and major award winners and Gallaudet University had one student-athlete selected to one of the two teams. Junior forward Cassidy Perry (Frederick, Md.) was selected to the All-ECAC Second Team for the first time in her career.

Perry, a three-time all-conference selection, made her second straight appearance on the All-United East First Team this season. She was recently named a College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America Second Team selection and picked to the D3hoops.com All-Region Second Team. Perry was named United East Women's Basketball Player of the Week five times this past season (Nov. 28, Dec. 12, Dec. 19, Jan. 23, Feb. 20) and 11 times for her career. This year, Perry was picked twice to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week (Dec. 12, Jan. 23). Perry finished the season with 451 points, 262 rebounds, 98 assists, 55 blocks and 45 steals in 24 games played (23 starts). Perry is also a CSC Academic All-District First Team honoree (2021-22, 2022-23). Nationally, Perry ranks the following in NCAA Division III; second in triple-doubles, fourth in field goal percentage (62.2), 12th in defensive rebounds per game (8.4), 17th in double-doubles (16), 32nd in blocks per game (2.29), 35th in rebounds per game (10.9), 38th in blocks (55) and field goals (183), 40th in points per game (18.8). She scored her 1,000th career point back on December 17 at Shenandoah University and currently sits seventh all-time in program history with 1,278 points.

Perry is the third Gallaudet women's basketball player to earn All-ECAC honors. The last Bison honoree was Lindsay Stergio in 2013-14 (Upstate-Second Team) along with Easter Fa'afiti, a two-time All-ECAC First Team selection for the South Region (2009-10, 2010-11). Fa'afiti was picked the 2010-11 ECAC Division III South Player of the Year.

Perry is joined on the All-ECAC Second Team by Carnegie Mellon University sophomore guard Catherine Or, DeSales University senior forward Megan Bealer, John Jay College senior forward Katie Healy and Penn St.-Behrend sophomore guard Rachel Majewski. Perry is the only honoree from the United East on either team.

New Jersey City University guard Damaris Rodriguez was voted ECAC Player of the Year while Hunter College guard Alexa Charles was named ECAC Rookie of the Year. Brooklyn College coach Alex Lang was selected as the ECAC Coach of the Year.

Student-athletes are nominated by their Athletic Communications/Sports Information Directors to the ECAC to be eligible to be selected to the All-ECAC teams.
