Gallaudet's Lindsay Stergio named to the ECAC Upstate Division III All-Star team

CENTREVILLE, Mass. – Gallaudet University senior forward Lindsay Stergio (Montville, Conn.) was recently named to the 2013-14 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Upstate Women's Basketball All-Star second team. This is Stergio's first appearance on an ECAC All-Star team.

Stergio was the only North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) player to earn ECAC All-Star status. The other four second-team honorees include Rochester Institute of Technology senior Courtney Tennant, St. Lawrence University junior forward Kara McDuffee, SUNY Geneseo forward Shannon McGinnis and William Smith College junior Chloe Hayter. Vassar College senior guard Cydni Matsuoka took home the Player of the Year while St. Lawrence University freshman forward Caroline Dalton earned Rookie of the Year.

Stergio, an All-NEAC first team honoree, played in 26 games (25 starts) this past season for the Bison and averaged 18.7 points per game, 10.0 rebounds per game, 3.1 assists per game and 1.2 steals per game. She finished the season with 487 points, 261 rebounds, 80 assists, 32 steals and 14 blocks. Stergio netted a career-high 29 points in the first game of the season, a 73-66 loss at the hands of Alvernia on Nov. 16. Nationally, she ranks 41st in the country for points per game (18.7) and 31st in double-doubles (14). Stergio led the Bison in five different statistical categories and ranks in the Top 10 for eight different NEAC statistical categories. Stergio scored double digits in 25 games, 14 of those she reached 20 points or more and had 14 double-doubles. She was also honored as an NEAC Women's Basketball Student-Athlete of the week on Feb. 10 and was name to the D3hoops.com All-Atlantic Third Team.

About the selection process
ECAC All-Stars, Players of the Year and Rookies of the Year are eligible if selected as their primary conference's award winner or all-conference first team selection. The teams and major award winners are voted on by head coaches within the ECAC Division III Upstate Women's Basketball region – who were not permitted to vote for their own players – from the ECAC membership.
