Bison slosh through Friday afternoon game at Washington Adventist

Box Score

TAKOMA PARK, Md. - The Gallaudet University men's soccer team made the short trip over to Washington Adventist University on a cool and wet Friday afternoon. The Bison kept the Shock scoreless in the second half and got off more shots but it wasn't enough as GU fell 3-0 to the NAIA program.

Gallaudet (3-5-1) allowed Washington Adventist (2-5-2) to get on the scoreboard less than a minute into the game. Shock forward Sesay Alhaj Bai took a shot that was saved by Bison goalie Bode Aggas (West Henrietta, N.Y.) but the hard shot bounced right back to Bai's foot and he blasted the ball into the rightside of the goal just 44 seconds in.

The Bison were able to calm things down for the next 36 minutes but the host scored two quick goals in a three-minute span. Shock forward Juan Castillo took a shot that Aggas saved but forward Inmer Nick Bonilla was right there to slam home the ball into the net as WAU led 2-0. Minutes later, Gallaudet got whistled for a foul about 20 yards out from its own goal area. WAU forward Jose Melendez took the free kick and scored on the shot that found the lower left corner of the Bison goal at the 39:54 mark.

The Shock took the 3-0 lead into halftime as the rain continued to pick up and drench the players and turf surface.

Aggas finished with a career-high 12 saves as his defense added one team save in the first half. WAU held a 24-7 edge in shots (15-3 in the first half) as the Shock took seven corner kicks to just two by the Bison. The two teams got whistles for 25 combined fouls and each team was off-sides one time.

Gallaudet had two players with two shots each in sophomore forwrd Mamboh Smith (Silver Spring, Md.) and junior midfielder Moosa Al-Hadifi (Muscat, Oman).
