Box Score ABINGTON, Pa. - The Gallaudet University men's soccer season came to a close here Sunday afternoon against Penn St.-Abington as the Bison were shut out for the 10th time this season, 5-0.
Gallaudet (3-11-1, 1-7 United East) hung around with Penn St.-Abington (8-7-3, 5-3 United East) in the first half as the Bison only allowed one goal, in the 20th minute, and went into halftime down 1-0.
In the second half, the Nittany Lions scored a quick goal in the 48th minute and added a third and fourth goal in the 53rd and 66th minutes. Penn St.-Abington added a fifth and final goal with 53 seconds left in the game on a penalty kick.
Freshman Troy Holcomb (Fremont, Calif.), fresh off an 18th-place finish in the United East men's cross country championship race the day before, got the start in goal for the Bison and allowed one goal in 45 minutes played. Sophomore Bode Aggas (West Henrietta, N.Y.) played the final 45 minutes in net.
Sophomore forward Mamboh Smith (Silver Spring, Md.) led the Bison in shots with three (two on goal) while junior defender Jonathon Waterman (Sebastian, Fla.) had two shots for GU, a day after he tallied five points for the Bison football team as its placekicker.
Arsene Bado led the scoring with two second-half goals as the Nittany Lions doubled up the Bison on shots, 16-8, and took eight corner kicks.
