Box Score WASHINGTON - The Gallaudet University women's soccer team lost 10-0 to Penn St.-Berks here Saturday afternoon in a United East Conference game on a picture perfect fall day in the nation's capital.
Gallaudet (0-10, 0-6 United East) only had nine healthy players able to play in an abbreviated 70-minute game against the Nittany Lions.
Penn St.-Berks (9-3-2, 5-0-1 United East) scored quickly and often against the Bison. Emily Clapper led the way with a quick hat trick, three goals in the first nine minutes. Diana Pon (two goals, one assist) and Violet O'Donald (two goals) scored two goals each while Jeyda Duran (one goal, three assists) led the Nittany Lions with three assists.
Penn St.-Berks took a 10-0 lead into halftime.
In the second half, the Nittany Lions ran down the clock by passing the ball around. Gallaudet recorded its first shot in five games when junior Courtney Gentzke (Honeoye, N.Y.) took a shot on goal at the 68:36 mark. The game ended once it became official in the 70th minute.
Gallaudet sophomore goalie Lilian Nelson (Minneapolis, Minn.) made 10 saves in net while the Bison defense made two team saves.
