Box Score WASHINGTON - The Gallaudet University men's soccer team stepped out of conference play to host Marymount (Va.) University here Wednesday night at Hotchkiss Field. The Saints ran away with a 10-0 win under the lights in a very physical contest with the Bison.
Gallaudet (3-8-1) tallied 13 shots, eight in the first half, with seven of them on goal as the Marymount goaltending duo of Brian Cruz (1-1) and Nicolas Varona combined to make seven saves.
Sophomore goalie Bode Aggas (West Henrietta, N.Y.) got the start in net and made four saves against the Saints in the first half. In the second half, freshman Vershon Carter (Chicago, Ill.) spelled Aggas and stopped two shots. The Bison defense recorded two team saves in the game.
Marymount (7-6) had seven different goal scorers, led by midfielder Leonardo Torres (three goals, two assists), who scored a hat trick with two of the goals coming off penalty shot opportunities. The Saints led 5-0 at the half.
Marymount continued to pour things on in the second half and ran up the score in the waning minutes. The Saints scored at the 88:06 mark and at the 89:50 mark to add insult to injury to Gallaudet.
The game featured 34 combined fouls, seven yellow cards and one red card, with the bulk of the cards and fouls being accessed in the second half as tempers flared on both sides.
