Box Score BRISTOL, Pa. - In its first road trip of the 2021 season the Gallaudet University men's soccer team fell to Cairn University, 4-1, on Saturday evening at Bristol Township Park in a non-conference game.
Gallaudet (0-2) fell behind early as Cairn (2-0) scored two quick goals in the opening 10 minutes of play. Cairn forward Jesse Brittain scored the first two goals for the Highlanders at the 6:44 mark and 9:42 mark. Cairn held the 2-0 lead for the majority of the first half and was set to head to the half up two before Gallaudet got on the scoreboard. Junior midfielder Kelly Grant (Hazelwood, Mo.) scored his first goal of the season off an assist from junior defender AJ Markel (University Park, Md.) with 10 seconds to spare before halftime. Grant's goal cut the Highlanders' lead in half, 2-1.
In the second half, Brittain went back to work and completed the hat trick in the 49th minute as he scored off an assist from Easton Shelley (three assists). Brittain would finished things off at the 55:23 mark with his fourth and final goal as Shelley assisted for a third time.
Gallaudet goalie Shane Angel (Mechanicsville, Md.) took the loss in net as he made six saves while his counterpart Kameron Clark made seven stops.
