Eli Matamoros (Richmond, Va.) scored for the second consecutive game Saturday afternoon as the Gallaudet University men's soccer team closed out its non-conference schedule with an 11-1 loss to Mary Baldwin University at SMA Worth Field.
The Fighting Squirrels (3-2-1) scored less than four minutes into the game before Matamoros answered for the Bison (0-6) in the 10th minute. Matamoros converted a penalty kick to tie the game at 1-1 with his second collegiate goal in as many games.
Mary Baldwin regained the lead in the 22nd minute when Soumalia Camara scored before Shawn Garner added another goal 29 seconds later. The Fighting Squirrels added three more goals before halftime to take a 6-1 advantage into the break.
GU sophomore goalie
John McCabe (Norwalk, Conn.) faced consistent pressure and finished with 22 saves, which tied his career high set against Stevenson University in the season opener on Sept. 4. McCabe made 10 saves in the opening half and added 12 more after halftime.
Mary Baldwin scored five times in the second half. The Fighting Squirrels had 10 different goal scorers in the game, while Camara finished with a goal and an assist. Gallaudet's other shot came from sophomore
Sadam Mohamed (Dadaab, Kenya) in the 65th minute.

- Matamoros has scored both of his collegiate goals on penalty kicks in Gallaudet's last two games.
- McCabe's 22 saves tied his career high set against Stevenson earlier this season.
