Box Score WASHINGTON - The Gallaudet University women's soccer team not only had to battle Penn State Harrisburg, the first-place team in the United East Conference, but the Bison had to slosh through a downpour in the second half here Saturday at a wet Hotchkiss Field. The visiting Lions left with a 6-0 victory and improved to 7-4-4 overall and 6-0-1 on top of the United East standings.
Penn State Harrisburg raced out to an early 3-0 lead and never looked back. The Lions had five different goal scorers led by Sarah Calkins, who scored the last goal of the first half where the Lions led 5-0, and the only goal of the second half (82nd minute).
Gallaudet (1-9, 0-6 United East) recorded one shot in the loss. Sophomore midfielder Mia Marin (Woodland, Calif.) fired the shot on net at the 67:45 mark but it was saved by Penn State Harrisburg goalie Delaney Shifflet (one save).
Sophomore goalie Payton DeGraw (Salt Lake City, Utah) finished the game with 11 saves for the Bison, seven of which came in the first half before the rain moved in and slowed the game down on both sides of the field.
