Bison run out of time against Lancaster Bible

Box Score

WASHINGTON - Time ran out on the Gallaudet University men's soccer team here Wednesday evening as the Bison came up short, 2-1, to Lancaster Bible College in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) game at Hotchkiss Field.

Gallaudet (0-7-1, 0-3 NEAC) and Lancaster Bible (5-2, 2-1 NEAC) played a scoreless first half but the visiting Chargers got on the scoreboard in the 49th minute when Rama Mugisha had a shot on the doorstep stopped by sophomore goalie Shane Angel (Mechanicsville, Md.). Unfortunately, the save was not corralled or cleared out as Mugisha, followed his shot, and blasted home the loose ball into the goal.

LBC scored its second goal in the 74th minute when Kedric Yoder scored his second goal of the season off quick passes from Rusty Risteen and Caleb Nelson to beat Angel (12 saves).

The Bison finally got on the scoreboard in the waning seconds when sophomore Julien Cano (Avondale, Ariz.) took GU's second corner kick of the game from the far left side of the field. Cano's pass found senior Kevin Fitzpatrick's (Hopatcong, N.J.) forehead as his header got past Charger goalie Isaac Barrow (two saves) with one second left in the game.

Gallaudet found itself in its own defensive zone for the majority of the game as the Bison struggled to clear the ball out against the pressing Chargers.

GU had several other opportunities to get on the scoreboard in the game but Lancaster Bible's defenders helped out Barrow by making two clutch team saves.

Sophomore forward Chad Johnson (Gardena, Calif.) took a shot at the 53:35 mark when he got through the Charger defense, on the right side of the field, the ball rolled towards the left post but an alert LBC defender came to the rescue and cleared the ball out.

Later in the game, freshman Donald Ognane (Libreville, Gabon) got a shot past Barrow, who charged out, but LBC defender James Ludovic was there for the team save and made the clear.

The Bison had a scoring chance in the first half when Johnson sent a nice cross over to freshman Amjad Al-Siyabi (Muscat, Oman), who was on the doorstep against Barrow, and couldn't connect on the pass with four minutes left before the half.
