Bison drop defensive struggle with Penn St.-Abington, 1-0

ABINGTON, Pa. - It was a defensive struggle here Saturday as Gallaudet University and Penn St.-Abington competed in a close women's soccer game between two North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) squads. In the end, the host Nittany Lions scored an early second-half goal en route to a 1-0 win.

Gallaudet (2-7-1, 0-4-1 NEAC) and Penn St.-Abington (3-8, 1-4 NEAC) played a scoreless first half as the two teams combined for 11 shots, eight coming from the Nittany Lions.

Penn St.-Abington got on the scoreboard in the 52nd minute when Taylor Perkowski scored an unassisted goal.

Freshman goalie Payton DeGraw (Salt Lake City, Utah) made nine saves in net for the Bison. Penn St.-Abington goalie Morgan O'Loughlin recorded three saves.

Sophomore midfielder Hannah Neild (Litchfield, N.H.) led the Bison with four shots, two on goal.

UP NEXT
Gallaudet remains in conference play and will travel to New York next weekend and face Keuka College (6-3, 5-0 NEAC) and Wells College (0-8, 0-5 NEAC). The Bison begin the trip at Keuka on Saturday, Oct. 12, at 3 p.m.
