Gallaudet can't cool down Marymount's high-scoring offense

Box Score

WASHINGTON - It was a hot and sticky Wednesday night at Hotchkiss Field as Marymount (Va.) University women's soccer paid a visit to Gallaudet University for a non-conference night game under the lights at Hotchkiss Field. On the hottest October day ever recorded in the nation's capital history, according to the National Weather Service, as temperatures reached 97 degrees during the day it felt more like a summer night then autumn.

Gallaudet (2-6-1) had a busy time trying to cool off the hot Marymount (2-7-1) offense on the unseasonably warm night as the Saints scored five goals in a span of 16 minutes in the first half. The Saints took a 6-0 lead into halftime en route to an 8-2 win.

Saints' Sita Nair recorded a hat trick with three straight goals to close out the first-half scoring. Karen Reyes added two first-half goals in the 16th and 19th minutes. Mia Londregan started the scoring in the 13th minute for the visitors.

GU got on the scoreboard early in the second half when freshmen Courtney Gentzke (Honeoye, N.Y.) and Henrianne Jansen (Apeldoorn, Netherlands) assisted sophomore Hannah Neild (Litchfield, N.H.) on a 35-yard shot that went over the head of Marymount goalie Maia Pappadakis (three saves) at the 46:13 mark.

Neild later scored her team best ninth goal of the season in the 74th minute off an assist from junior Sharon Castillo (Dallas, Texas) as she blasted a 25-yard shot past Pappadakis.

Senior goalie Silvya Levesque (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) got the start in goal for the Bison and made six saves and allowed six goals in 45 minutes of work. Freshman Payton DeGraw (Salt Lake City, Utah) played the second half and recorded two saves and surrendered two goals.

BISON TRACKS
