Bison slip against Saints on Senior Day to end season

Box Score

WASHINGTON - The Gallaudet University men's soccer team concluded the 2018 season on a cold, wet, rainy raw Friday night at Hotchkiss Field as the visiting Saints from Marymount (Va.) University won, 1-0, in overtime to ruin Senior Day on homecoming weekend.

Marymount (4-12) scored the game's lone goal on a fast-break opportunity midway through the first overtime period. The Saints cleared the ball from their defensive end as Robert Hultberg kicked the ball ahead to a streaking Sebastian Hendi, who was left 1-on-1 with Gallaudet goalie Shane Angel (Mechanicsville, Md.). Hendi shot the ball low, from 15 yards out, into the left corner of the Bison goal to end the game with 4:35 left on the clock.

Gallaudet (6-11) recorded one shot in the overtime period but couldn't get it in the Saints goal. Freshman forward Chad Johnson (Gardena, Calif.) took a shot that got blocked by a Saint defender, who deflected the ball back towards the goal but it went wide and out-of-bounds. It was a close call as Johnson almost ended the game. Johnson took a corner kick but Marymount's defense cleared it and seconds later the game was over.

The Bison controlled the edge in shots 16-13 while the Saints held a 6-4 advantage in corner kicks.
