Gallaudet holds on to tie Morrisville State on the road

Box Score

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. - Gallaudet University and Morrisville State played to a 3-3 double overtime result on the road Saturday afternoon, in a critical North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) women's soccer match, at Drake Field.

Gallaudet (6-7-1, 4-4-1 NEAC) scored the first goal and took a 2-1 lead into halftime and later increased the margin to two goals, 3-1, before Morrisville (6-9-1, 5-3-1 NEAC) scored two goals to tie the game and force extra time. The two teams played two scoreless 10-minute periods in overtime to finish in a draw.

Gallaudet got on board, quickly, when sophomore midfielder Sabrina Hernandez (Ashland, Va.) assisted freshman midfielder Hannah Neild (Litchfield, N.H.) on her seventh goal of the season, just four minutes in.

Morrisville responded 36 seconds later, on a Jade Shimer goal off an assist from Casey Watson.

The score remained knotted at 1-1 before Neild assisted senior foward Brittany Mallach (Milton, Ontario) on her eighth goal of the season at the 22:43 mark. GU took the one goal lead, 2-1, into the half.

Sophomore midfielder Sharon Castillo (Dallas, Texas) widened the Gallaudet lead to 3-1 on an unassisted goal in the 52nd minute.

GU's defense let up in the final 22 minutes of play as the Mustangs scored twice. Angelina Rinaldi (one goal, one assist) scored off an assist from Kayla Kelly in the 68th minute and then assisted Michaela Fazio at the 72:32 mark on the game-tying goal. Gallaudet junior goalie Silvya Levesque (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) made 14 saves, half coming in the first half, while Mustang goalie Lydia Young made seven saves.
