Bison surrender last-minute goal to Wells in 1-0 loss

WASHINGTON - Gallaudet University lost a heartbreaker to Wells College, 1-0, in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) women's soccer game here Sunday afternoon at Hotchkiss Field.

Gallaudet (7-7, 3-6 NEAC) made the most of its shots in the defensive game. The Bison had seven shots but four of them were on goal where Wells goalie Quinn Doubet came up with the saves. Freshman midfielder Hailey Montoya (Mentone, Calif.) had a powerful shot in the second half that Doubet was able to corral and hold onto in the 76th minute.

Wells (6-9, 4-4 NEAC) scored in the final minutes when Sammie Jones lifted a high shot to the upper right 90 of the goal. Jones' goal came at the 85:32 mark as she was assisted by Madison Maloney.

Sophomore goalie Silvya Levesque (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) made some great saves throughout the game and concluded with 17 total. The 17 saves are the second-most for Levesque this season.

The two teams played to a scoreless tie in the first half as Wells held a 16-2 edge in shots.
