Strong second half propels Wells past Gallaudet

Box Score

WASHINGTON – The Gallaudet University women's soccer team dropped a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) game Saturday afternoon to Wells College, 2-0, at Hoy Field.

Heather Hiltbrand scored two second half goals to propel the Express (1-3, 1-1 NEAC) past the host Bison (1-4, 0-2 NEAC). Hiltbrand's eventual game-winning goal came in the 49th minute when she took a free kick from 30 yards out. Her blast sailed just over the head of Gallaudet goalie Jennifer Livengood (Jacksonville, Fla.) and hit the back of the net.

Hiltbrand's second goal came at the 63:05 mark, when forward Yanna Ososkalo (two shots) crossed the ball to the top of the box where Hiltbrand (seven shots) blasted a shot into the goal.

Livengood recorded four of her seven saves in the first half and was helped by her Bison defense which made two team saves. Quinn Doubet (1-2) came into the game at the start of the second half with the game tied at 0-0. Doubet made one save and picked up the win while first half goalie Abbigail Kime made one save.

Sofia Lindevall (Stockholm, Sweden) tried to get Gallaudet back in the game taking three shots (one shot on goal) but none of them found the back of the net.

GU returns to Hotchkiss Field tomorrow (Sunday, Sept. 14) for a noon NEAC game with Keuka College (3-2, 3-0 NEAC).
