Gallaudet nets nine goals in a game for the first time since 2005

Box Score

MORRISTOWN, N.J. - It was an offensive outburst by the Gallaudet University women's soccer team on the road Saturday as the Bison defeated North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) foe College of Saint Elizabeth by eight goals, 9-1. This is the first time since 2005 that the Bison netted nine goals in a game as they defeated Trinity Washington University, 9-0.

Gallaudet (3-13, 2-9 NEAC) jumped out early on the Eagles (0-15, 0-10 NEAC) when freshman Anastasia Murray (Raleigh, N.C.) got the Bison on the scoreboard with two unassisted goals in a 16-minute span. Junior Katie Benz (Ottawa, Canada) scored the first of her two goals in the game in the 28th minute as the Bison led 3-0.

Valerie Lasko scored the lone goal for the Eagles in the 41st minute as she was assisted by Jessica Nunez. This is the first goal for St. Elizabeth against a NEAC opponent this year and only the team's second goal this season. Lasko's goal snapped a scoreless streak of over 1,200 minutes for the Eagles as they celebrated Senior Day.

Murray netted her third goal of the half a minute later, off an assist from junior Megan Calik (Conyers, Ga.), as GU took a 4-1 lead into halftime.

The Bison did not let up in the second half as senior Sofia Lindevall (Stockholm, Sweden) scored three straight goals in a span that lasted two minutes, nine seconds. Senior forward Erin LaFave (Troy, Mich.) and freshman Sabina Shysh (Tucson, Ariz.) each added an assist on Lindevall's hat trick. LaFave netted her first collegiate goal in a Bison uniform when she scored an unassisted goal in the 60th minute. Benz capped off the Gallaudet scoring in the 76th minute off an assist from Lindevall.

Bison goalkeeper Jennifer Livengood (Jacksonville, Fla.) recorded the win in net and had two saves on the day. Her counterpart Carla Martinez made eight saves on 17 shots on goal for the Eagles.

GU more than doubled its goals scored for the season in today's game then what the Bison had scored (four) in their previous 15 games combined.

Gallaudet will wrap-up its 2014 season on Friday, Oct. 24, at 6 p.m. when it will host Penn College (4-11, 3-6 NEAC) in a homecoming game at Hotchkiss Field.
