WASHINGTON – Gallaudet University went toe-to-toe with the defending North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) women's soccer champions at Hotchkiss Field for a half on a sunny Saturday afternoon before Lancaster Bible College forward Alyssa Wesner took over. Wesner netted a second half hat trick as the visiting Chargers won going away 4-0.

Senior goalie Kara Gulvas (Crown Point, Ind.) played well in net for the Bison as she made 20 saves and faced 24 shots. The Bison (0-3-1, 0-1 NEAC) held Monica Horning, the 2012 NEAC Player of the Year, to no goals and only eight shots (five on goal) in the game as she was marked by freshman defender Ashleigh Weatherholtz (Front Royal, Va.) for the majority of the game.

Lancaster Bible (1-1, 1-0 NEAC) received three second half goals from Wesner as she netted two goals within seven minutes of each other. Wesner's first goal came off an assist from Kirsten Webster and the second off an assist from Bethany Stein (one goal, one assist) at 59:34 mark. Wesner capped her day with an unassisted goal, a hard shot to the right of Gulvas, with 16 minutes left in the game.

The Chargers took a 1-0 lead into halftime after Stein scored her first goal of the season in the 28th minute. Stein's unassisted goal came off a deflection in the middle of the field and she fired a shot past Gulvas into the left corner of the net.

Gallaudet's lone shot of the game happened off a free kick by senior Katie Giles (Gaithersburg, Md.) at the 19:55 mark in the first half.

Gallaudet continues its six-game homestand to start the season when it hosts Notre Dame of Maryland University on Thursday, Sept. 12, at 7 p.m.
