Rain can't slow Gallaudet as Bison win second in a row

Box Score

WASHINGTON – Despite the sloppy and wet conditions Wednesday, the Gallaudet University women's soccer team persevered with a shutout, 2-0, on the road against non-conference opponent Trinity Washington University.

Gallaudet (2-10-1) struck early in the fourth minute when Kelsey Koenigs (Old Orchard Beach, Maine) received a pass from Monique Balcarcel (Lansing, Mich.) to notch her third goal of the season. Later in the second half, Sofia Lindevall (Stockholm, Sweden) gave the Bison a two score cushion after shooting off of her own rebound in the 79th minute for her third goal in two games. Freshman goalkeeper Jennifer Livengood (Jacksonville, Fla.) notched her second consecutive shutout win as she stopped two shots.

Trinity (0-10-1) was forced to play on its side of the field for most of the game. Aysa Tucker led the Tigers on offense as she took two of the three total shots in the game.

The Bison look to carry their momentum into their next match Saturday, Oct. 12, at 1 p.m., as they return home to host North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) foe Penn St.-Berks (11-2-1, 8-0 NEAC) at Hoy Field.
