Box Score FREDERICK, Md. – The Gallaudet University
women's soccer team could not overcome a two-goal first half by
non-conference opponent Hood College on the road Wednesday
afternoon as the Blazers shutout the Bison, 4-0.
The Blazers (3-6) attacked early as sophomore Jessica Herbert
knocked in an unassisted goal in the 11th minute. Herbert led Hood
with two goals and one assist. The Blazers led 2-0 at halftime.
Herbert opened the second half with another quick unassisted
goal in the 49th minute and assisted freshman Nicole Jouan on the
fourth goal in the 79th minute.
The Bison (0-10-1) had an opportunity to score early in the
game as junior Sofia
Lindevall (Stockholm, Sweden) had a one-on-one
breakaway but sailed the shot high in the fifth minute. Sophomore
Jennifer
Livengood (Jacksonville, Fla.) got her first career
start as a Bison and played tough in net as she made eight saves of
the 12 shots on goal (28 total shots) she faced.
Gallaudet will return home to host the College of St. Elizabeth
in a North Eastern Athletic Conference game on Saturday, Oct. 5, at
2 p.m. at Hotchkiss Field.
