Box Score PHILADELPHIA – The Gallaudet University men's soccer team was unable to win its second consecutive game as they fell to Penn St.-Abington, the first-place team in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC), on the road Wednesday night by a score of 3-0.
Penn St.-Abington (11-3, 9-1 NEAC) scored two first half goals in the contest and added a third in the second. Junior midfielder Andre Lynahping got the offense going for the Nittany Lions when he scored an unassisted goal in the 16th minute. Less than 12 minutes later, senior forward Julian Ward recorded the second tally for Penn St.-Abington when his strike from eight yards out found its way into the back of the net, giving the Nittany Lions a 2-0 halftime lead. Sophomore forward Alex Martins added the second half goal in the 65th minute on an assist from Lynahping.
Sophomore goalkeeper Eric Setzer (Middletown, Md.) recorded nine saves on the evening for the Bison (3-12, 1-9 NEAC). He faced 23 shots compared to only nine faced by Penn St.-Abington goalkeeper James Carlin (one save). Senior forward Jean-Pierre Kanashiro (Springfield, Va.) was the leading shot taker for Gallaudet with four. Freshman midfielder Nick Mansel (Lawton, Okla.) was responsible for the only shot on goal for the Bison as he recorded two shots in the contest.
The Bison last won back-to-back games on Sept. 3 and Sept. 6 when they opened up the season by defeating Christendom College and Valley Forge Christian College. They were unable to replicate the feat on Wednesday, four days after their 1-0 victory over Penn St.-Berks on Saturday afternoon.
Gallaudet will close out its season on Friday, Oct. 26, when it hosts non-conference foe Salem International University in a Homecoming matchup at 5 p.m. at Hotchkiss Field.
