Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C.- The Gallaudet University men's soccer team lost a tough 1-0 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) game Sunday at home to Cazenovia College. The loss drops the Bison to 2-10 overall and 0-7 NEAC after a two-game winning streak to begin the season.
The Wildcats (7-6-1, 6-1-1 NEAC) launched 27 shots compared to the Bison's six but the only one they could get past goalkeeper Eric Setzer (Middletown, Md.) was a penalty kick in the 21st minute of the game. Cazenovia College senior forward Gregorie Ducasse was tackled in the box as he charged towards the net after retrieving a loose ball from 20 yards out. Gallaudet was charged with a foul and Ducasse was awarded a penalty kick. He knocked a roller into the right corner of the net for the game's first and only goal.
The Bison defense kept the team in the game as the offense was only able to muster one shot on goal. Defenders Zachary Seguin (Royal Oak, Mich.), Felix Ramirez (Anaheim, Calif.) and Jeremy Wagoner (Pittsburgh, Pa.) protected the Bison end all afternoon and fought off an onslaught of shots from the Wildcats. Setzer (nine saves) played a smart game in net as he disrupted a number of Wildcat passes by charging out the box and clearing the ball.
The Bison take to the road for their next three games against conference opponents before returning home for their final game on Homecoming Weekend on Oct. 26.
