GU ends road trip with loss to Wells

Box Score

AURORA, N.Y. – Paige Stone scored early and often for Wells College on Sunday as the Express handed Gallaudet University a 7-0 loss in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) women's soccer game on Sunday. The Bison (0-7, 0-3 NEAC) were shut out for a fourth straight game, fifth time this season, as the Express (4-6, 2-2 NEAC) peppered the GU goal with 34 shots (27 in the first half).

Stone scored back-to-back unassisted goals, in a 10-minute span, to start the game as the Express led 2-0 just 19 minutes in. She completed her hat trick six minutes later with her third goal off an assist from Shannon Blanford (two goals, one assist). The pair connected again in the 32nd minute when Stone assisted Blanford for the first of her two goals. Wells went into halftime up 4-0.

The Bison took five shots in each half and landed three shots on goal. Sophomore forward Britny Latham (Cleveland, Tenn.) led the team with two shots on goal while sophomore forward Lauren Hostovsky (Medfield, Mass.) took a team-high four shots. Senior goalie Casey McCullough (Oceanside, Calif.) ended the game with 11 saves.

Gallaudet returns home after being away for nearly a month and will host conference foe SUNYIT on Saturday, October 1, at 2 p.m.
