Box Score MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – Junior forward Jean-Pierre Kanashiro (Springfield, Va.) scored Gallaudet University's first goal of the 2011 season on a penalty kick in the 85th minute on the road against Penn St.-Harrisburg on Saturday. The goal was Kanashiro's first as a Bison as they lost 7-1 in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) opener against the Nittany Lions.
Gallaudet (0-3, 0-1 NEAC) was outshot 25-5 in the game but was able to close the gap in the second half with four shots to Penn St.-Harrisburg's 14. The Lions led 5-0 at the half as Ernset Ntimoah scored back-to-back goals right before intermission. Alex Belanger was the other multi-goal scorer for the Lions (2-1, 1-0) with two tallies.
Junior midfielder Richard Spiecker (Rochester, N.Y.), junior forward James Rummo (Butler, N.J.) and freshman midfielder Gabriel Carino (New York, N.Y.) each had one shot in the loss for the Bison.
Freshman goalie Eric Setzer (Middletown, Md.) made nine saves for the Bison as he played the entire game. Gallaudet lost to Penn St.-Harrisburg 3-0 at home last season.
