Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Gallaudet University women's soccer team played Mary Baldwin College on Sunday in their final game of the Trinity (D.C.) University tournament. The Bison got on the scoreboard in the second half, but it wasn't enough as GU fell 2-1 to the Fighting Squirrels.
After Mary Baldwin took a 2-0 lead, GU quickly responded just a minute later, with a goal by Lauren Hostovsky (Medfield, Mass.) in the 63rd minute. However, the Bison (0-3) were unable to complete the comeback, despite outshooting Mary Baldwin 17-9.
Mary Baldwin's Kalli Johnson scored in the 43rd minute to give her team the lead just before halftime. In the second half, Aisha Williams added to the lead with a goal in the 62nd minute, assisted by Caitlin Novak to give the Fighting Squirrels (2-1) a two-goal lead.
Hostovsky and junior Maddie Morgan (Hockessin, Del.) led the Bison with four shots each while freshman Katie Benz (Stafford, Va.) recorded three shots. Juniors Johanna Arrigo (Ewing, N.J.) and Tiffany Narciso (North Wildwood, N.J.) had two shots each. GU made six corner kicks to Mary Baldwin's one.
MBC goalie Erica Gaughan made 11 saves while senior goalie Casey McCullough (Oceanside, Calif.) stopped five.
The Bison open North Eastern Athletic Conference play at Penn St.-Harrisburg on Saturday, September 17, at 2 p.m.
