Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C. – For 95 minutes and 46
seconds Gallaudet University women's soccer goalie
Kara Gulvas (Crown Point, Ind.) was perfect
against Keuka College on Sunday afternoon at Hotchkiss Field in the
North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) showdown. It was the 47th
second that got Gulvas and the Bison as Keuka's Courtney
McLaughlin buried a loose rebound in front of the goal to give the
Storm a 1-0 overtime victory.
Gulvas tied her season-high save total as she made 15 stops
against the Storm. Keuka pelted the Bison goal in the second half
as the Storm took 18 shots. Gulvas stopped 10 second half shots and
has to thank her post for deflecting several other Keuka shots that
were sent her way.
The Gallaudet defensive line in front of Gulvas that consists of
junior Janaee Cobbs (Sacramento, Calif.),
sophomore Connor Crawford (Palatka, Fla.),
sophomore Janna DiBiase (Fishers, Ind.) and
freshman Taryn Philippi (St. Cloud, Minn.) stayed
strong throughout the entire game as the group hustled and tried to
clear out the Storm offense.
Gallaudet was led on offense by sophomore Maddie Morgan (Hockessin, Del.) who took a team-high four shots.
Sophomore Tiffany Narciso (North Wildwood, N.J.)
added two shots, both on goal.
Keuka took 31 shots to Gallaudet's nine. McLaughlin took a
game-high seven shots (four on goal) as she played the right wing
position for the Storm. Keuka goalie Ashley Vail made five saves in
the win.
This was the first NEAC weekend for the Bison as the conference
requires teams to play on back-to-back days on the weekends.
GU is off until next weekend when the Bison hit the road for two
conference games against SUNY Cobleskill (Saturday, October 2) and
SUNYIT (Sunday, October 3).
