Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Gallaudet
University men's soccer team lost 3-0 in a North Eastern Athletic
Conference (NEAC) game at Hotchkiss Field on Saturday night to
Wells College of Aurora, N.Y. Midfielder Delroy Roberts led the
attack for the Express (4-4-1, 2-1 NEAC) with one goal and one
assist.
GU starting goalie Poloko
Qobose (Gaborone, Botswana) was under fire early and
often but kept the Bison (0-6, 0-2 NEAC) in the contest. Roberts
got Wells on the board in the 12th minute when he netted an
unassisted goal from 20 yards out. Forward Justin Rigney increased
the Express lead to two in the 37th minute with an unassisted goal
off of a free kick. Minutes later, Qobose exited the game with an
injury and would not return. Backup goalie Jordan
Ramser (Louisville, Ky.) performed admirably in
Qobose's absence, as he made six saves and allowed one goal in 52
minutes of play. The lone blemish came off the foot of midfielder
Patrick Sodums in the 62nd minute.
Wells proved to be too much for the Bison to handle with their
crisp passing and ball possession throughout the game.
Forward Zane
Noschese (Pittsburgh, Pa.) led the Bison offense but
wasn't able to capitalize on his team-high two shots on goal. Wells
goalies CJ Bayly (two saves) and Aaron Brody (one save) both played
well to earn the shutout.
Gallaudet will next be in action tomorrow (Sunday, September 26)
at 3 p.m. when the Bison welcome Keuka College for a NEAC
contest.
