Box Score FRONT ROYAL, Va. - The Gallaudet University
women's soccer team dropped a tough 3-2 match to Christendom
College on Wednesday. The Bison (2-4) were unable to hold onto an
early 2-0 lead provided by midfielder Tiffany
Narciso (North Wildwood, N.J.), who had two first-half
goals, as the Bison edged every statistical category but the final
score.
The Christendom (3-4) defense kept the Crusaders within striking
distance after two early unassisted goals by Narciso in the 3rd and
16th minutes. Johanna Arrigo (Ewing, N.J.) and
Maddie Morgan (Hockessin, Del.) led the Bison
attack with four shots on goal each but were not able to capitalize
on their opportunities. Crusader freshman Rachel Snyder cut the
lead in half with an unassisted goal past GU goalie Kara
Gulvas (Crown Point, Ind.). Then in the 58th minute,
senior Jane Snyder evened the score 2-2 with an unassisted
goal.
The action was at a standstill for 20 minutes before Gulvas
allowed the eventual game-winner in the 77th minute when
Christendom midfielder Cecilia O'Reilly scored off a penalty
kick. Gulvas played the full 90 minutes in net where she made five
saves on nine shots. Opposing goalie Molly Morey played well as she
made eight saves on 15 Bison shots.
The Bison look to get back on track against North Eastern
Athletic Conference opponent Wells College at Hotchkiss Field on
Saturday, September 25, at 3 p.m.
