Box Score 2 WASHINGTON, D.C. – Gallaudet University
played one of its best halves of men's soccer this season as the
Bison almost came back against Cazenovia College on Sunday
afternoon at Hotchkiss Field. The Bison outshot the Wildcats 8-7
and scored a goal but the visitors came away with the 2-1 win in
North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) play.
Gallaudet (1-14, 1-6 NEAC) recorded a season-high 11 shots in
the one-goal loss. Freshman Abdul
Al-Makura (Bassa, Nigeria) led the Bison with four
shots, one on goal. Sophomore forward Wilson Velez
III (Marlborough, Mass.) scored his first collegiate
goal in the 48th minute against the Wildcats (3-8-2, 3-3-1 NEAC).
Velez's shot went to the lower right corner. Cazenovia goalie Riley
Battaglini (one save) dove to his left but the ball caromed off his
hand and into the net.
The Wildcats netted two first half goals as Travis Lasher scored
off an assist from Anthony Meola, 11 minutes in, to put Cazenovia
out in front 1-0. Gallaudet committed a foul in its own goalie box
in the 30th minute which led to a penalty kick goal converted by
Robert Dufort.

Qobose (Gaborone, Botswana) made seven saves in net
and received two assists from his defenders that blocked would be
goals.
On Saturday, the Bison lost a very physical conference game 4-0
to the hands of Morrisville State College (6-5-1, 2-2-1 NEAC).
Mustang forward Andrew Brobbey recorded a hat trick as he scored
the game's first three goals. Erik Whitcombe (one goal, one assist)
had the other tally for the Mustangs. Morrisville outshot Gallaudet
26-4. Qobose made 11 saves in the loss.
Gallaudet is off until next weekend when the Bison head to
Pennsylvania to face Penn St.-Berks and Penn St.-Abington.
