Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Gallaudet women's soccer
team garnered its first winning streak of the season with a 1-0
victory over North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) opponent
Morrisville State on Saturday at Hotchkiss Field. The win also
marked the eighth straight game in which GU has held opponents to
three goals or less.
The two teams were set to head into halftime scoreless until
sophomore Maddie
Morgan (Hockessin, Del.) scored the game's first and
only goal in the 44th minute. The opportunistic play six yards away
from the net marked her third goal of the season.
The Bison (6-7, 4-4 NEAC) never gave away the lead as Gallaudet
defense played superbly once again. Sophomore goalie Kara
Gulvas (Crown Point, Ind.) earned her second shutout of
the season by pushing away three shots by Morrisville State (1-11,
0-8 NEAC). The collective defensive effort was led by junior
Janaee
Cobbs (Sacramento, Calif.), sophomore Connor
Crawford (Palatka, Fla.) and freshmen Lauren
Sprague (Grafton, Mass.) and Taryn
Philippi (St. Cloud, Minn.). The offensive attack was
led by sophomore Johanna
Arrigo (Ewing, N.J.) and freshman Lauren
Hostovsky (Medfield, Mass.) with four shots
apiece.
The team has a quick turnaround between games as they return to
Hotchkiss Field on Sunday, October 17, for a noon showdown against
conference opponent Cazenovia (5-8, 5-4 NEAC). The Wildcats
currently sit one place ahead of the Bison in the NEAC
standings.
