The Gallaudet men's soccer team was the first Gallaudet sports
team to play with the new scoreboard installed on Hotchkiss Field,
as they battled St. Mary's College tonight, suffering a 3-0 defeat.
The new scoreboard
which is double the size of the previous one, proved a hit wiith
the fans who proclaimed the scoreboard easier to see with it's
larger numbers and it's location closer to the stands.
The men gave their best effort on defense, stopping numerous
shots by St. Mary's, but were unable to establish an offensive
attack. Their best opportunity came when Trenton Lukin drove
the ball up the field, faked out two St. Mary's defenders , and was
one on one with the goalie when he unleashed a hard shot from 20
yards away. Unfortunately for Gallaudet the St. Mary's goalie made
a great save to preserve the shut-out.
Fans will have an opportunity to see the new scoreboard that is
drawing rave reviews from fans, players, and coaches all week as
Gallaudet athletic teams are at home every day this week, except
for Friday night. The women's soccer team play Tuesday night at 7
pm against York College. The men's soccer team plays again
Wednesday night at 7 pm. The women will play Thursday night at 7 pm
against Stevenson. Then Saturday, on Homecoming Day, the football
team will play with the scoreboard for the first time, when they
play Southern Virginia at 2 pm. The women's socer team will play
immediately after the football game at 5 pm vs. King's (PA). Bison
fans are invited to come out and watch all the teams play this week
at Hotchkiss Field.
