LATHAM, N.Y. – The United East Conference announced Tuesday its student-athlete of the week awards and Gallaudet University sophomore
Sevan Ikeda (Fremont, Calif.) was named the Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for the week ending Sept. 6.
Ikeda opened the 2026 season with a second-place finish out of 155 runners at the Dutchmen Invitational last Saturday. The defending United East champion completed the 8K course in 25 minutes and 56 seconds, just 10.6 seconds behind the individual champion, and recorded the fifth-fastest 8K time in Gallaudet men's cross country history.
Penn State Harrisburg sophomore MaKayla Reichel was selected as the United East Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week after she finished fifth overall at the Dutchmen Invitational with a time of 19:32.8 (5K). She was the third-highest Division III finisher in the field and crossed the line just 13 seconds behind individual champion Maya Carey of Hood College.
GU HONORS
This is Gallaudet's first United East Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week honor this season and the fifth United East cross country weekly honor of Ikeda's collegiate career.
