LATHAM, N.Y. – The United East Conference announced Tuesday its student-athlete of the week awards and Gallaudet University sophomore
Sevan Ikeda (Fremont, Calif.) was named the Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for the week ending Sept. 13. This is the second straight week Ikeda has brought home this honor.
Ikeda finished third overall among 90 runners at the SU Twilight Open hosted by Shenandoah University. The sophomore completed the 6K course at historic Kernstown Battlefield in 20 minutes and 11 second, as he finished behind only two runners from Roanoke College. Ikeda's 6K time is one of the top times in program history. The defending United East champion has opened the 2026 season with back-to-back top-three finishes after placing second at the Dutchmen Invitational a week ago.
Penn State Harrisburg sophomore MaKayla Reichel was selected as the United East Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week for the second straight week as well. Reichel recorded a runner-up finish at the Juniata Invitational last week. The sophomore completed the 5K course in 19:53.7 to place second among 37 runners and lead the way for Penn State Harrisburg. Reichel has now opened the 2026 season with back-to-back top-five finishes, following her program-record 5K performance at the Dutchmen Invitational a week ago.
