Two Bison place in Top 20 at SU Twilight Open, Ikeda finishes third

WINCHESTER, Va. – Gallaudet University sophomore Sevan Ikeda (Fremont, Calif.) turned in another record board worthy time here Friday evening as the Bison men's cross country team ran in the SU Twilight Open at historic Kernstown Battlefield.

Ikeda was the third runner to finish the 6-kilometer (6K) course as he clocked in with a time of 20 minutes and 11 seconds. The time is one of the fastest 6K times in program history and the first entry for Ikeda at this distance.

Nathaniel Orban from Roanoke College was the first of 90 runners to cross the finish line as the sophomore recorded a time of 19:29. Orban's teammate Parker Blosser finished in second place (19:57) in the 6K race hosted by Shenandoah University.

First year Dylan Olmos (San Jose, Calif.) continued his impressive rookie campaign with another strong race as he finished 20th overall with a swift time of 21:09.

Three other Bison took to the starting line for Friday evening's race. Senior Troy Holcomb (Fremont, Calif.) finished his first race of the season in 76th place with a time of 24:47, first year Kai Min Huot (St. Augustine, Fla.) finished his second career meet in 25:38 to place 81st and fellow first year Robert Bogen (Anaheim, Calif.) finished his first career race in 88th place (34:54).

Gallaudet finished ninth out of the 10 teams that posted a team score, which is calculated by aggregating the place of the team's top five placing runners, as the Bison accumulated 213 team points.

In the meet at-large, Roanoke College won the meet with 32 team points. Virginia Military Institute (Division I) placed second with 48 points followed by Washington and Lee in third (62).
