WASHINGTON - Gallaudet University and Howard University hosted the Bison Classic here Saturday at the Thomas O. Berg Track as Gallaudet placed fourth out of six teams.
Howard University, who was celebrating Senior Day at the Bison Classic, won the meet with 79 team points followed by McDaniel College (64) and Medger Evers College finished third (52). Gallaudet placed fourth with 28 points while St. Mary's College of Maryland and Marymount (Va.) University finished tied for fifth (19).
Senior
Walter Douglas (Sanford, Fla.) had a busy day as he participated in four events. Douglas placed first in the long jump with a top leap of 7.15 meters to set a new personal best and place him ninth overall in the 2025 NCAA Division III Long Jump performance list.
Douglas ran in the 100-meter dash and finished eight with a time of 11.61 seconds however he ran a season's best in the prelims (11.44). Douglas was GU's first runner to finish the 200-meter dash in 23.46 seconds (season best) in ninth place.

Roberto Torres (Miami Gardens, Fla.), sophomore,
Andrae' Green (Washington, D.C.) and sophomore
Gabe Cadete (Nashua, N.H.) placed third in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:44.20.
Torres won the 3,000 meter steeplechase event with a time of 10:48.96.
Senior
Andrew Bibbs (Columbia, S.C.) participated in two events; high jump and triple jump and finished second and fifth, respectively, with new season best marks. He cleared 1.70 meters in the high jump and 11.84 meters in the triple jump.
In the throwing events, senior
Cotis Martinez (Turlock, Calif.) placed second in the javelin (42.51 meters) and sixth in the discus (33.75).
Sophomore
Navar Harris (Charleston, W.Va.) placed third in the shot put with a top toss of 12.82 meters. Sophomore
Andrew Suarez (Fairview, Texas) placed eight overall with a big throw of 11.23 meters.
Suarez also participated in the hammer and discus and placed seventh (36.22 meters) and eighth (30.97 meters), respectively.

Gallaudet will travel north to New Jersey to participate in the Oscar Moore Invitational hosted by Rowan University next Saturday, April 12, at noon.
