INDIANAPOLIS - The NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Track and Field Committee announced the participants in the 2024 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
For each individual event contested, including the decathlon and heptathlon, the top 22 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition. For each relay event contested, the top 16 declared relay teams, one per institution, were accepted into the competition.
Gallaudet University senior sprinter Eric Gregory (Metairie, La.) qualified for the 100-meter dash (13th fastest time in Division III this outdoor season with a time of 10.48 seconds), the 200-meter dash (4th fastest time - 20.85 seconds) and the 400-meter dash (No. 1 fastest time - 46.30 seconds).
This is the fourth NCAA outdoor championship appearance for Gregory, a three-time outdoor track & field All-American. He is the two-time defending national champion in the 400-meter dash. In 2022, he placed third in the 200-meter dash in the finals. In 2019, Gregory placed 10th overall in the 200-meter dash and just missed the finals as the top eight times advance out of the preliminary heats.
This is the fourth NCAA men's outdoor track and field championship qualifier under Gallaudet coach Byron Moore since he took the head coach reigns in 2014-15.
Gregory is Gallaudet's lone men's representative but is joined by women's high jumper Hannah Wetzel (Fremont, Calif.) and 200-meter sprinter Oceana Brown (Miami, Fla.) at the 2024 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
The championships will be held May 23-25 at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in Myrtle Beach, S.C., and hosted by Coastal Carolina University and Myrtle Beach Sports. The 200-meter dash preliminaries will be held on Thursday, May 23, at 6:55 p.m., while the 400-meter dash preliminaries will be held on Friday, May 24, at 5:15 p.m. and the 100-meter dash preliminaries at 5:45 p.m. The finals for the 400-, 100- and 200-meter events will he held on Saturday, May 25, at 5:20 p.m., 5:40 p.m. and 6:50 p.m., respectively.
