Box Score

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. - The streak is over. Gallaudet University's women's basketball team saw their nine-game win streak snapped Tuesday night on that road at St. Mary's College of Maryland as the Seahawks won, 51-42, in a  United East Conference game.

Gallaudet (14-8, 12-3 United East) scored the first basket of the game but then trailed for the final 37 minutes of play. St. Mary's (11-12, 9-6 United East) outscored GU 13-2 and led 15-8 after the first 10 minutes of play. The Seahawks increased their lead and led 31-15 at intermission.

Gallaudet outscored St. Mary's in both the third and fourth quarters but it wasn't enough to overcome the Seahawk deficit to tie or take the lead. The Bison scored 27 points in the second half to the 20 recorded by the Seahawks.

Senior guard Emelia Beldon (Frederick, Md.) led the Bison with 14 points, seven steals, three rebounds and one assist. Freshman guard Crystal Salit (Boyds, Md.) added nine points, three steals, two rebounds and two assists. Sophomore forward Cassidy Perry (Frederick, Md.) dealt with foul trouble and was limited to eight points and grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds. Off the bench, freshman forward Hannah Puent (Indianapolis, Ind.) grabbed 10 rebounds, three steals and two points.

The Seahawks were led by guard Karon Williams with 22 points, 10 rebounds, five steals and four assists.
